Mountain Bike Event Success

AIS and FibreSpeed hosted a Service Provider Event at Coed Llandegla Forest on Friday 3rd April.

The event was a huge success with a good turn out from the FibreSpeed providers, FibreSpeed and several potential clients along with the AIS Sales and Support Teams.

The morning was spent in the conference centre at the Forest Facility (provided by One Planet Adventure), where a commercial presentation by Nortel (the equipment providers to FibreSpeed) allowed the service providers to gain a fuller understanding of the active technology in use and the overall topology of the network - I think we all found it very informative and it was a great opportunity for the ISPs to interact both with Nortel and FibreSpeed as well as each other.

Then came the bit we were all wating for (the lunch - not really but it went down well!) the Mountain Bike Event. The event saw several groups of both Service Providers, FibreSpeed Team members and several potential clients take to their bikes and set off through the forest trails.

The 'Black Trail' even though the toughest proved to be popular and lived up to its reputation claiming a broken gear system and chain on Richard's Bike leaving him stuck in a single gear for nearly 3 miles! Several other riders on the lesser demainding trails did not get away unpunished and had a few cuts and scrapes to prove how demanding the trails were. One thing that helped ease the aches and pains was the selection of 'Bacon Butties' washed down with a drink or two!

All in all a good day was had by everyone and I am sure we are all looking forward to the next event.

Let's Talk FibreSpeed

Well after all the hype of the Lauch just before Christmas I thought it was time to get blogging and talk Fibre!

The FibreSpeed project a venture backed by the Welsh Assembly Government and private sector investment is now a reality in North Wales. The objective is to connect businesses in key areas on business parks and industrial areas to the UK core network in Manchester via a truly digital fibre network, that is set to transform business in Wales empowering them with innovation and technology previously unavailable to all but a select few due to distance and cost restraints.
